In "Classic Shorts" author Rick Murcer presents two short stories and the first five chapters of his next novel, "Carolina Rain." The first story, "Lighthouse", begins with Chase and Maggie, two small town people who are talking about marriage and family and going to the lighthouse which is their special place that they love. A crime occurs and when Manny Williams steps in, it's up to him to figure out who committed the crime. This is a story with a twist that I never saw coming."Herb's Home Run" is a very touching and spiritual story of a much-loved friend who dies of a heart attack too early in his life, and what happens after he passes on. It is a very inspirational piece of writing that I enjoyed very much.
I also read the first five chapters of Rick Murcer's next Manny Williams novel, "Carolina Rain." I can't wait for the book to be released after reading the beginning. Murcer's writing gets better and better and after reading these five chapters with the twists and turns that they take, Murcer's skill and storytelling abilities for writing mystery/thrillers is right up there with the best of them.

I have read all the books that followed this book and they are way better I just felt in both stories there could have been more, since I have read almost all the Manny Williams stories maybe it is just I like them so much
more.

I really didn't think the story made much sense, there was some stuff in the middle that I didn't even know why they put it in.
normally like Rick Murcer but would not recomend this book
Ok light read simple easy reading good meaning to storyline. Nothing like Williams series. Short stories are ok sometimes takes pressure off in-depth stories.
This is my 5th book by Rick Mercer, and I really enjoy his writing style, his charters are so real and believable and the stories just fly by. Keep up the great work Rick Mercer, you have a fan.
I enjoyed The Lighthouse because it took place in the state of my birth. Herb's Home Run was a very touching story and would be enjoyed by baseball fans, especially.
I recommend both these short stories if you are a fan of Rick Mercer, as I am.
If you haven't already heard about or read Rick Murcer books, you are missing out. Very interesting, intriguing and entertaining! I highly recommend them. Only trouble --- once you start you can't put them down .... so less sleep.
